Our Leadership
Economos Properties is a family owned company started by Nick Economos, Sr. in 1969 that has grown from small motels in Norfolk, Virginia to full service and upper upscale hotels in high barrier to entry markets. In 2002 Dan Economos and Nick Economos, Jr. joined the company and continued to expand and develop hotels throughout Florida and most recently Nevada.
Nick Economos, Sr. was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1950 and spent his childhood in Greece and Canada. In 1969 he moved to Norfolk, Virginia from Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada where he founded Economos Properties. He purchased his first motel at 19 years old and over the next 13 years acquired 10 additional motels and developed a restaurant chain called A&W. In the 1980s he developed two full service Omni hotels with two high energy nightclubs attached to them. In 1992 he moved his family and corporate office to Boca Raton, FL where he resides today.

Debra Livingston
Office Manager/Executive Assistant
Debra Livingston attended Lougheed College in Canada. After moving to Florida in 1989, Debra received extensive training at the Dale Carnegie Institute, where she assumed the role of Office Manager at their Fort Lauderdale location she was instrumental in setting up the office at that location, and was very involved in the evening training classes as well.
Debra then held the position of Executive Assistant to the President of a Fleet and Logistics Management Company in Ft. Lauderdale, and was with them for approximately 5 years, until such time when the President relocated to Tennessee.
Debra moved on to assume the role of Office Manager at Stone Creek Ranch by Kenco Communities in Delray Beach. She assisted the Director of Marketing, and also assisted in setting up events and showcasing multi-million dollar homes on site.
In 2010, Debra joined Economos Properties as Executive Assistant and also Personal Assistant to the three principals of the company. She also serves as an Office Manager and works as a liaison with vendors to the hotels, ownership, and property management.
Elizabeth Reinoso
Director of Human Resources
Elizabeth Reinoso joined Economos Properties as Director of Human Resources in 2017.
Elizabeth held the role of Human Resources Representative and Project Administrator for Suffolk Construction from 2005 to 2010. She began her hospitality career with MDM Hotel Group as part of the pre-opening team of the JW Marriott Marquis as the Executive Assistant in 2010. In June of 2012, Elizabeth transferred to Human Resources as the HR Generalist. In 2014 she was promoted to Human Resources Manager.
Elizabeth graduated from Catholic University in Santiago, Dominican Republic where she studied Organizational Psychology. She has also completed the SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program from Florida International University. She’s a member of the South Florida Hospitality Human Resources Association and participates in the Stearns Weaver Miller Annual Labor & Employment Law Seminars.
Elizabeth Reinoso
Director of Human Resources
Elizabeth Reinoso joined Economos Properties as Director of Human Resources in 2017.

Ferdinand Ortiz
Director of Revenue Management
Ferdinand Ortiz recently joined Economos Properties as Director of Revenue Management for their South Florida hotels. Bringing 18 years of hospitality experience, Ferdinand has worked in Revenue Management for major brands such as Marriott, Hilton, and Carnival Cruise Line.
Ferdinand is a native of Puerto Rico but grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was there where he started his hospitality career at Marriott’s corporate office as a Customer Service Representative. Having discovered a passion for hospitality, Ferdinand spent six years in that office with three various promotions. Later, he relocated to Florida where he held various front office leadership positions at the Marriott Vacation Club’s Grande Vista in Orlando, Florida and Beach Place Tower in Ft. Lauderdale Beach, Florida. His last role with Marriott consisted of a remote office position as a Regional Resort Liaison for various Marriott Vacation Clubs in Hawaii.
In 2015, Ferdinand joined the Revenue Management team for Hersha Hospitality at their Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront, the historic Cadillac hotel. He was instrumental in the successful brand conversion of its original flag as a Courtyard by Marriott to an Autograph Collection. In addition, Ferdinand’s responsibilities grew to provide revenue management support to six hotels, both branded, and independent. He has also tasked forced at hotels in Danbury, CT within Hersha’s portfolio. Most recently, Ferdinand was a part of the revenue management team for Carnival Cruise Line where he was responsible for maximizing revenue and selling over 3,000 cabins between Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Imagination, and Carnival Miracle. The three ships were all in California markets.
Having a passion for Revenue Management, Ferdinand returned to the South Florida hotel industry by joining Economos Properties where he is tasked in maximizing revenues for their existing and new hotels.
Dan Economos
Principal
Dan Economos joined Economos Properties in 2002. Dan was instrumental in the development of a 263 room Courtyard by Marriott located in Miami Beach, Florida, which opened in January 2004. In addition, Dan opened a Carrabba’s Italian Grill, located in the Courtyard by Marriott, in December 2004. In late 2008, Dan completed the development of a 189 room Hilton Garden Inn and a 124 room Homewood Suites by Hilton located near the Miami airport. In 2012, Dan and his brother Nick started a mezzanine lending program making loans on single family rental properties, office buildings, cell towers and hotels. In 2017, Dan completed the development of a 124 room Four Points by Sheraton located near the Miami Airport.
Prior to joining Economos Properties, Dan began his career in 1998 working on Wall Street with Bankers Trust, where he worked in the equity research department covering the Gaming and Lodging sectors. From 1999 to 2002, he worked with Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. in their Real Estate Investment Banking Group. During his time on Wall Street, he focused on debt, equity and M&A transactions for most publicly traded gaming and lodging companies.
Dan is a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
Nick Economos Jr.
Principal
Nick Economos, Jr. joined Economos Properties in 2002. Nick was instrumental in the development of a 156 room Hilton Garden Inn located near the Ft. Lauderdale airport, which opened in February, 2004. In 2006, Nick completed the development of an 8,000 square foot retail strip center located in Boca Raton, Florida and anchored by Cold Stone Creamery, Quiznos Subs and Sprint/ Nextel. In late 2009, Nick completed the development of a 157 room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and a 124 room Homewood Suites by Hilton located near the Ft. Lauderdale airport. In early 2010, Nick became a receiver for a New York lender on a 220 room Holiday Inn located in Reno-Sparks, Nevada and has been managing the hotel since. In 2012, Nick and his brother Dan started a mezzanine lending program making loans on single family rental properties, office buildings, cell towers and hotels. In 2014, Nick began working on a 350 room dual branded full service Marriott hotel and AC by Marriott hotel located near the Ft. Lauderdale airport. The development is part of a larger mixed use project called Dania Pointe. The development consists of 1 million square feet of retail and restaurant space, a 500,000 square foot corporate campus for Spirit Airlines, a 250 room corporate housing building for Spirit Airlines, bowling alley, and 1,000 residential units. The hotels are expected to open at the end of 2020. In 2018 Nick purchased a 220 room Holiday Inn in Reno-Sparks, Nevada from a New York investment fund and converted it to a 209 room Best Western Plus.
Prior to joining Economos Properties, Nick began his career in 1999 working at the Omni Berkshire in New York City. In 2000, Nick worked at the American Stock Exchange as a research analyst covering small cap equities. From early 2001 to late 2002, Nick worked at JD Carlisle Development Corp. assisting in the development of large mixed use buildings in New York City.
Nick is a graduate of Ithaca College School of Business Administration.
Nick Economos, Sr.
Chairman
Economos Properties was founded in 1969 in the state of Virginia by Nick Economos, Sr. who serves as the company Chairman. Mr. Economos was involved in community and professional activities throughout his twenty year residence in the Tidewater Area. A political science major, he graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, he completed various courses in Hotel and Motel Law and Management through the Education Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association. Since 1992 he has been residing in Boca Raton, Florida and is active in the development of hotels in the Florida market.
Mr. Economos moved to Virginia in 1969 and purchased a 23-unit apartment complex. Over the next thirteen years he acquired ten additional motels and developed the E&W restaurant chain. In 1985 Mr. Economos developed the 169 room Omni Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia and, in 1989, the 183 room Omni Hotel in Newport News, Virginia. In the early 1990s he developed a 210 single unit housing development in Newport News, Virginia and two Howard Johnson Inn properties totaling 215 rooms.
Since moving to Florida in 1992, Mr. Economos has developed a number of projects. He built the 79 room Hampton Inn & Suites in Islamorada, Florida in 1996. In conjunction with the Islamorada project, he became a joint-venture partner of Outback Steakhouse and developed an Outback Steakhouse restaurant at the hotel site. In 2000, Mr. Economos purchased a Bank of America office building in Boca Raton, Florida to use as his corporate headquarters.
Mr. Economos completed two development projects in early 2004, a 156 room Hilton Garden Inn near the Ft. Lauderdale airport and a 263 room Courtyard by Marriott in Miami Beach, Florida. In late 2004, Mr. Economos completed the development of a Carrabba’s Italian Grill located in the Courtyard by Marriott. In late 2009, Mr. Economos completed the development of a 124 room Homewood Suites by Hilton and a 157 room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott near the Ft. Lauderdale airport.
Since 1969, Nick Economos has led Economos Properties in developing projects valued in excess of $800 million.
Maria Cancino
General Manager – Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West
Maria Cancino is the General Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West. She has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and began her career in the late nineties as a Reservation Agent for Marriott International’s Miami Reservation Center. She later took on the role as Group Coordinator at the Renaissance Eden Roc Resort & Spa. In 2003, she joined Economos Properties as a Sales Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront, the historic Cadillac Hotel. The following year she was promoted to Event Manager. After success in that role, she was promoted to Food & Beverage/Event Manager. In 2010, Maria was promoted to Director of Operations at their Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West. At the beginning of 2020, she was promoted to General Manager. During her tenure with Economos Properties she has been successful in maximizing revenue, profitability, and developing talent.
Angie Hidalgo
Complex General Manager – Homewood Suites by Hilton & Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port
Angie Hidalgo is currently the Complex General Manager for the 124 room Homewood Suites by Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port and the 157 room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. She graduated from Florida International University, where she earned a degree in Hospitality Management. In 2009, she started her career in the hospitality industry in the Miami market holding various roles such as Front Office Agent/Supervisor and Front Office Manager. In 2012, she joined Economos Properties as a Front Office Manager for the 189 room Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West. She was soon transferred and promoted as Director of Operations for the Hilton Garden Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port. In 2017, she left Economos Properties and took on a new challenge as opening General Manager of the Hampton Inn by Hilton Miami Airport East. During this transition period, she oversaw the entire opening, financial, and operational aspects of the hotel. With the gained experience, Angie returned Economos Properties in 2018 as the Complex General Manager.
Lucrecia Magana
General Manager – Homewood suites by Hilton Miami Airport West
Lucrecia immigrated to the United States over 40 years ago from El Salvador. Her enthusiasm for the hospitality industry came at a young age through her mother’s passion for cooking and taking care of people through her catering business. She later studied hospitality management and special education. During her studies, she received a scholarship for tennis at Miami-Dade College. Between the time of her studies and entering the workforce, Lucrecia’s ultimate achievement was her broad volunteer work supporting individuals with unique needs.
With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Lucrecia started her career as a Front Desk Agent at the Helmsley Hotel in New York City. During her career, she has held a wide range of positions in the rooms division and grew her versatility in hospitality management. In 2010, Lucrecia joined Economos Properties where she quickly moved from Director of Housekeeping for the 189 room Hilton Garden Inn, and 124 room Homewood Suites at their Miami Airport hotels to Director of Operations for their Homewood Suites. In 2019, she was promoted to General Manager for the Homewood Suites Miami Airport West. One of her biggest accomplishments during her time at the Homewood Suites was overseeing a large renovation of the building. In addition, she continued to achieve high scores in hotel inspections from Hilton. Her dedication to mentoring, training, and supporting her staff is second to none in the industry.
Johanna Mosquera
Area Director of Sales & Marketing – Miami Airport
Johanna Mosquera is an accomplished Hotel Executive who holds a unique blend of direct sales, marketing, revenue management, budget administration, coaching, and leadership with over 27 years of experience in the hotel industry.
Born in Methuen, MA and raised in Dominican Republic, she began her journey in 1992 as a Reservations Manager at the 1942 iconic Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino. A year after, she was selected for a six-month management training at Allegro All-Inclusive Resort in Puerto Plata, DR., a new Spanish hotel chain, where she completed her diverse interdepartmental residency, and concluded occupying a full time position as Front of the House Supervisor for four years. Johanna then pursued growth as a Sales Manager at the InterContinental V Centenario Santo Domingo Hotel for five years. She later accepted the Traveling Sales Manager position handling the American clientele for four years.
Johanna graduated as a Hotel Business Administrator at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (Cornell University Affiliated). She also studied abroad at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland, a top ranking school for Hospitality & Leisure Management. In 2004, she relocated to Florida and started a new venture with MEI Hotels as a Senior Sales Manager for five years at the Hilton Garden Inn Ft. Lauderdale/SW Miramar. Adding to her experience, she received her IACC Certification while working for Thayer Lodging, in the 1st IACC Certified Wyndham Miami Conference Center Hotel.
In 2010, Johanna joined Economos Properties as a Director of Sales and Marketing for the 156 room Hilton Garden Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port and in 2018 was promoted to Area Director of Sales and Marketing for their Miami properties. Johanna effectively directs and motivates a Sales Team focused on developing and executing short and long-term goals and managing implementations for aggressive growth. She is performance oriented, with a superior work ethic who thrives on challenges and sets the pace amongst peers.
Carolina Torres
Area Director of Sales & Marketing – Ft. Lauderdale Airport
Carolina Torres is a Sales Executive with 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She graduated as a Business Hotel Administrator from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (Cornell University Affiliated) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Soon after graduating she joined the InterContinental V Centenario Santo Domingo hotel where she held several positions within the rooms Divisions, Training, and Sales Department. She developed innovative programs to increase additional revenue from a low revenue point of sales and implemented strategies to guide her team to exceed revenue record goals. After seven successful years in a full service property, she immigrated to the United States and joined Mercer Hospitality to successfully crossover to the North American market. In 2007, Carolina joined Economos Properties as a member of the Sales Department in their 156 room Hilton Garden Inn at the Ft. Lauderdale airport. She was successful in increasing the sales of the hotel wherein she was promoted to Director of Sales. Recently Carolina was promoted to Area Director of Sales & Marketing for their 124 room Homewood Suites, 157 room Fairfield Inn & Suites and 156 room Hilton Garden Inn at the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Carolina and has been instrumental in developing a winning, revenue driven sales team.
Mauricio Martins
Area General Manager – Miami Airport
Originally from Brazil, Mauricio Martins started his career in hospitality in New York City after graduating from Hospitality Management in Brazil with a course extension at New York University. During his career, he has held multiple positions in the industry. From his early beginnings as a High Tea Server at the iconic The Palace in New York, he worked his way up the ladder and became Director of Food & Beverage at the Renaissance São Paulo. Afterward, he was transferred and promoted to the West Palm Beach Marriott as an Assistant General Manager. In 2009, Mauricio joined Economos Properties as General Manager of the 263 room Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront, the historic Cadillac hotel.
Other positions held throughout his career include Room Service Manager at the St. Regis NY, Food & Beverage Manager at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, Director of Food & Beverage at Breezes Varadero, Cuba, General Manager of the Spa do Vinho, Autograph Collection, Brazil, and a second turn as General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront.
In 2018, Mauricio re-joined Economos Properties as Area General Manager of their Miami Airport hotels, which included a 189 room Hilton Garden Inn, a 124 room Homewood Suites by Hilton, and a 124 room Four Points by Sheraton. Mauricio currently oversees 437 rooms within the Economos Properties portfolio.
Daniel Lam
Area General Manager – Ft. Lauderdale Airport/Sparks-Reno
Daniel Lam is the Area General Manager for Economos Properties’ Ft. Lauderdale Airport & Sparks-Reno, NV hotels. A native of New York, Daniel relocated to Central Florida in the late nineties and later attended Florida International University in Miami where he earned a degree in Business Management. His career in the hospitality industry began as a part-time PBX Operator and relief Front Desk Clerk. He has held various positions throughout his hotel career such as Rooms Controller, Assistant Front Office Manager, and Assistant Reservations Manager in resort branded properties located in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami Beach, and the Kissimmee/Orlando Area.
In 2005, Daniel joined Economos Properties as a Front Desk Manager at their 263 room Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront, the historic Cadillac Hotel. Soon after he was promoted to Front Office Manager. In 2007 he was promoted to Director of Operations at their 156 room Hilton Garden Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port hotel. In 2008 he was promoted to General Manager and successfully oversaw the renovation of the property. He also tasked force at their 189 room Omni hotel in Newport News, VA, 79 room Hampton Inn & Suites in Islamorada, FL and 124 room Homewood Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport–Cruise Port hotel in areas of budgeting, IT, operations, and revenue management. In 2017 he was promoted to Area General Manager, overseeing their Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. In 2018, Daniel was assigned to oversee the conversion of a 220 room Holiday Inn to a Best West Plus in Sparks, NV. Daniel currently oversees 646 rooms within the Economos Properties portfolio.
Daniel is a member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale General Manager’s Council. He has also been a standing member of the Florida Restaurant Lodging Association, where in 2018 he served on the Broward County Chapter’s Government Relations Committee. He is also a member of the Hilton Focus Service Brand Operation’s Council.
Management Team
Economos Properties’ real estate investments are thriving, with current development of new hotels and other properties throughout South Florida with an expansion into Nevada.
We have exciting, large-scale development projects in the works, such as the construction of a dual-branded Marriott hotel at Dania Pointe in Dania Beach, Florida.
